Engineering Jobs Property Property

Engineering jobs in property can be a very technical one at time, which is why engineers and designers are needed. The most common type of engineering jobs are in the property market is a site engineer, who will be responsible for carrying out the technical organisation and supervising on construction sites.

This could be anything from civil engineering, working on roads, and rail, as well as property. It is their job to make sure that the plans are appropriate for the site, as a site engineer you will also have to look health and safety on the site and site security. Depending on the type of project you are working on, you may have to do quite a bit of travelling.

Most engineering jobs will probably come from a contractor, but if projects are big, then a firm may employ an on site engineer.

Day-to-Day Role of a Site Engineer

A site engineer will need to make sure that the site is safe for everyone to use, and then he or she can start to level out the site. The site engineer works closely with the architect and designer to make sure that the designs and the calculations are appropriate for the site.

Working as a site engineer you will have to agree the price for materials and make sure that they are cost-effective in line with the budget of the project, which means working closely with contractors.

The site engineer is not always the most popular person on site, as part of your job will be to take charge of the workforce and make sure that they are meeting all of there deadlines.

Working as a Design Engineer

Working in property design you will get to do the most creative part of a property development, Researching and developing ideas for new projects will be your main responsibilities, as well as designing ways to make current developments of projects more efficient.

The same principles will apply to property design engineers as they do to other aspects of design engineering, You could find yourself working on a multi-million pound project, or a small local rural development next.

Part of working as a design engineer is being able to research not only the building that is being built, but all of the materials that will go with it and work out how much these will cost and whether they will be cost effective.

The design engineer will need to draw up plans and turn them into technical plans using computer aided designs, as well as testing any prototypes.

Design engineers also have a responsibility to make sure that their designs are environmentally friendly, and fit in well socially with where they are being built.

Qualifications Needed for Engineering Jobs

To have a career in property design or as an engineer you will need either a degree in engineering or some form or design degree. Engineering jobs and design jobs are two of the more technical aspects of working in property, so you should think about a career in these if you are a bit more creative and want to work at designing properties, and seeing your ideas come to life. Design and engineering careers are two of the most rewarding jobs in property, as you get to not only build the properties, but get to watch your creations being built.
